Purpose and History

About Us

Aim for Success is a non-profit 501(c)(3) educational organization based in Dallas, Texas. Founded in 1993 by Marilyn Morris, Aim for Success is the largest provider of abstinence education programs in the nation. These programs have reached over 1.5  million teens, parents and educators in schools, churches, and youth organizations across the country. With the help of four full-time speakers and  five part-time speakers, over 2,000 abstinence programs are delivered each year.

In 2008, Aim For Success will be adding a new drug and alcohol prevention program called Power to Succeed. We will also be rolling out a new curriculum call Youth Reaching Higher.  This eight lesson curriculum targets 5th - 8th grade students and motivates them to dream big, set goals and put plans in place to achieve their goals.

Purpose

Aim For Success:  America's largest provider of sexual abstinence programs.
Aim For Success is an independent, non-profit, educational organization that promotes a lifestyle of excellence by encouraging the development of self control, self respect, and self discipline. Through live presentations students are encouraged to develop strong, responsible character as they deal with sexual pressure.

Through Aim For Success presentations, students learn the wisdom of committing to be sexually abstinent until marriage. Parents are inspired to raise responsible children who know their choices have consequences. Teachers receive creative ideas on how to implement the abstinence message into their classrooms.

Success Requires Good Choices!

All students will have to make a decision about sex. That decision can mean the difference between success or failure, life or death. What guidance are you providing?

As teachers, administrators, and parents, you know from experience that success in life requires making the right choices when faced with difficult and confusing decisions. The question is: What are you going to do to prepare them to make good choices?

Facts:

  • 2,094 teenagers get pregnant every day in America. That's one every 41 seconds!
  • 10,479 teenagers get an STD every day in America. That's one every 8 seconds.
  • There are over 25 significant STDs today.
  • One out of every four sexually active teenagers has an STD.
  • "Safe sex" methods do little or nothing in preventing several of today's leading STDs. And no contraceptive can protect a young person's heart from emotional scars and painful memories  brought on by sexual activity before marriage.

History

In 1984, Marilyn Morris was invited to speak to one of her daughters' classes about sexual abstinence. She jumped at the chance to tell teenagers what she wished someone had told her. In 1968, the beginning of her senior year in high school, Marilyn's dreams and goals were completely changed when she found out she was pregnant. She and Charles Morris were forced to grow up overnight when they were married at the age of 17 and 18. Her personal experience has given her a passion to share the sexual abstinence until marriage message.

Marilyn's captivating and entertaining speaking style resulted in her giving 50 presentations to 3,745 participants in 1990. During the next few years the numbers continued to grow. In August 1993, Marilyn formed Aim For Success, Inc., as a 501(c)(3) non-profit, educational organization. She continues to serve as its President today. Marilyn's husband, Charles, now a CPA, joined Marilyn at Aim For Success in 1994 to serve as Chief Financial Officer. Charles and Marilyn have two grown, married daughters, and five grandchildren.

In its first year (1993), Marilyn and two other Aim For Success speakers gave 526 presentations to over 30,000 people. As the years progressed, the professional speaking staff grew to meet the demands for the phenomenal growth. Today, 1.5 million teens, parents and educators across America have participated in an Aim For Success presentation in public schools, churches and youth organizations. This incredible growth has allowed Aim For Success to become the largest provider of sexual abstinence programs in the country. Currently, there are 9 professional speakers providing over 2,000 programs a year.

The exciting, one-hour, live student presentations are age-appropriate and designed for 6th grade through college. The programs are  fast-paced, fun and filled with games, stories and object lessons. Each presentation includes impressive PowerPoint technology. These positive, medically-accurate programs help build self-control, self-respect and self-discipline.

Kids love our program:

  • "I was sexually active until you spoke to our class last year. I have not had sex since, because you made me think." -- 16 year-old

  • "My boyfriend of 10 months and I were considering sex & planning it this weekend! Not anymore!! Thanks." -- 14 year-old

  • "I was excited and planned to have sex on my senior prom night, but now I am having second thoughts." -- High School Teenager

At the conclusion of each student presentation, an anonymous, volunteer survey is taken. Well over 100,000 students responded to the survey each year.

  • 60% of the respondents rate our presentations as "excellent" and 35% rate it as "good"

  • 25% of the sexually active students say they are going to commit to abstinence.

  • 89% of the students said they learned something new from the program.
