Teens, Sex, and Choices

Description
It is a fact that every teenager will have to
choose how to deal with sex.
These CHOICES can lead to lifelong success or a
lifetime of regret. But how can you as a young
person make good decisions about sex unless you
have good information? For example:
- What is the most common sexually
transmitted disease in America?
If your answer is AIDS - you're wrong.
It's HPV (human papilloma virus). Did you know more American
women die each year from HPV related cancer than women who die
from AIDS?
In Teens, Sex, and Choices you will learn about today's
leading STDs. You will also learn amazing facts on
reproduction that will astonish both young and old.
The information on pregnancy, emotional scars,
sexual abuse, rape and date rape will cause you to
look carefully at your present life and your
future. You will also learn just how safe "safe sex"
really is along with numerous ways to successfully live the
abstinent lifestyle. After completing this book, you
will have the necessary facts to make your own
personal life CHOICES.
Each chapter concludes with a workbook section and
family discussion questions. This will allow you to apply each
chapter to your own life and to have some great discussions
with your family. While your parents cannot make
your CHOICES for you, they are responsible for
providing good information and guidance.
Ultimately, the CHOICES you make in life are up to
you. The question is: Will the CHOICES you make
lead to lifelong success or a lifetime of
regret?
Teens,
Sex and Choices is also available as an audio
recording. It is perfect for the teen who won't
READ anything. However, many parents listen to the recording
while commuting to and from work. This way they are prepared
for the
family discussion.
Some parents have even used the recording on a family road trip.
You lock the doors, fasten seatbelts and PRESTO! a captive audience.
Seriously, each chapter is on one track of a CD. No chapter takes
longer than thirty minutes (some are as short as ten minutes!).
So after listening together, the teens can do the worksheets in
their books and the family can do the discussion together right
there in the car. It can really make those long trips seem shorter!

Reviews

The last two decades have seen the world
regarding sexuality undergo phenomenal changes.
When I began practicing Gynecology in the late
1970's, no one would have predicted that we would
be in the midst of a pandemic of sexually
transmitted diseases (STD's) by the mid-1990's. We
find ourselves in just that position, with the
spread of bacterial and viral diseases in
unprecedented proportions worldwide. The message
that limited sexual contact and condom usage would
prevent the very epidemic in which we find
ourselves has proven to be an utter failure.
Literally, billions of dollars have been spent in
an attempt to educate two generations of young
people about the dangers of STD's, but we have
found that education about the mechanics of
sexuality is not enough to prevent the consequences
of poor behavior.
The world shows us through the media and through
the promotion of lackadaisical sexual attitudes
that sexuality is a toy to be brought out and
played with then put away for future enjoyment with
no consequences. We never see the movie star in the
emergency room with a ruptured ectopic pregnancy or
undergoing surgery for complications of Human
Papilloma Virus (now the most common STD). Yet
these are true-life results of the policies and
attitudes, that treat sexuality in such a flippant
way.
Our children deserve to know the whole truth
about sexuality and its inherent dangers and joys.
We condemn a generation of young people to failure
when we say 'they are going to do it anyway' and
treat them as if they have no consciences and no
ability to weigh the dangers of their
actions.
Marilyn Morris is one of only a handful that
have been willing to step to the table and present
the whole story of human sexuality, both the good
and the bad. As a physician I have long recognized
that a mechanistic approach to teaching sexuality,
which ignored the psychosocial ramifications to the
individual, the family, and society was doomed to
failure. Only a comprehensive approach such as the
one presented in this work will offer any real hope
that we may convince this generations of
adolescents that their sexual relationships are to
be treasured. It is in seeking this special
relationship with one other individual that the
true meaning of sexuality in our lives may reach
its full potential.
It is my hope that the families who use this
tool will not only be blessed as they seek to
fulfill their own hopes and dreams, but that
through this parent-child dialogue, our society
will reap the benefits as human sexuality regains
its proper place and prospective.

Life and sex are both precious gifts from God
entrusted to the family. Procreation literally
gives life to children and families. Accurate
teaching about the basics of life--including sex
and sexuality--imparts knowledge and promotes
maturity. This is always effective and meaningful
when it takes place within the family. This
book is about life, sex, and the
family.
Truth brings freedom to life through encouraging
proper life choices. Ignorance, misconceptions, and
lies lead to poor life choices, bringing to human
life. Our culture has witnessed the devastation of
sexual immorality stemming from the avoidance of
truth about sexuality. The quality of life as well
as life itself are threatened. This book is
about truth.
Character is the result of life application of
truth through wise but often tough life choices.
Character is a critical source of self-esteem and
an essential part of healthy sexuality. Character
is best taught to children and teenagers through
strong nurturing family relationships. This
book is about families and
character.
Drawing from her own life experiences and her
passion for the quality of life, Marilyn Morris
brings a contagious enthusiasm to her challenge to
families to celebrate the gift of life by becoming
sexually educated and character strengthened. This
book presents the choice of abstinence outside of
marriage as the only way to restore the joy of sex.
This book is truly a book about choices that
lead to lifelong success.
